SB QST @ ALLUS $USP_Q004 USP-Q004 AMP AltCast Testing QST de USPacket USP Bulletin 004 USP_Q004 From the USPacket website http://www.uspacket.org To all radio amateurs Initial tests of the new AMP ( Amateur Multicast Protocol ) are currently under way, along with alpha testing of the new AltCast AMP software, also under development. More information about AMP and AltCast, developed by W5ALT can be found at: http://www.comportco.com/~w5alt/digital/digitalindex.php?pg=5 The AltCast transmissions can be monitored with any PSK31 software, such as DigiPan, MixW, and many others. If you can copy the AltCast test transmissions and send us a signal report, be sure to let us know if you would like to help test the AltCast software. AltCast Client will capture the files sent by the AltCast Server, and automatically put them onto your hard-drive. The test transmissions are a mix of current ARRL and AMSAT bulletins, plus a few text and HTML info bulletins about the test transmissions. Testing is scheduled for 9:00am ( US central time ) until 3:00pm daily in PSK31 mode, on 10.133 MHz LSB. Transmissions are at @ 8 watts, originating from San Benito, Texas. ( The southern tip of the state, near Brownsville and South Padre Island. ) One AltCast Server can tranfer data simultaneously to an unlimited number of recipient ( client ) stations, making it the fastest, most effecient ham radio data transfer system in existence, by several orders of magnitude.
